The results of the 2025 omnibus survey on internet use confirmed that no digital technology has spread among the population as quickly as generative artificial intelligence (AI), according to a statement from the Federal Statistical Office (BFS) from Tuesday.
Three years after it was made available on the Internet, almost half of the Swiss population (47 percent) said they used generative AI. In a European comparison, Switzerland is in third place behind the leaders Norway and Denmark.
At the beginning of April, a survey by the comparison service Comparis showed that 76 percent of the adult population in Switzerland actually use artificial intelligence tools in everyday life. The year before it was only 62.4 percent.
According to Comparis, young people, educated people, high-income earners and French-speaking people make particular use of artificial intelligence. According to the survey, the usage rate in the 18 to 35 year old age group is 90.1 percent compared to 52.1 percent for those over 56 years old.
There are also big differences in the level of education: 82.5 percent of people with a high level of education use these tools, compared to 69.4 percent of people with a low level of education. According to the survey, the differences between high and low income classes are similarly clear. (can/sda)
