Turkish police have arrested 119 people suspected of having links to the terrorist organization “Islamic State” (IS). The operation was carried out nationwide, the Turkish Foreign Ministry said on Saturday.
“As part of an operation carried out by our gendarmerie in 30 provinces against the terrorist organization Daech, 119 suspects were arrested,” the ministry said. The affected provinces include Istanbul (northwest), Ankara (centre) and Adana (south).
The suspects are accused of being members of the “Islamic State,” of conducting propaganda for the group on social networks and of financing it “through people with connections to the terrorist organization and through so-called charities,” according to the ministry. (sda/afp)
