An elderly driver accidentally drove her car into a busy garden restaurant near the casino in the center of the Wörthersee town in Velden in Carinthia, Austria, on Saturday afternoon. According to the Carinthia State Police Department, eleven guests were injured, two of them seriously.
Initial information said there was no danger to anyone’s life. The accident occurred around 12:40 p.m. According to police, the woman was probably driving at a low speed in a 30 zone. It was not a targeted action. According to the police, initial images from surveillance cameras showed that the driver may have failed in a parking maneuver. However, the details of the circumstances were initially unclear as the woman was in shock after the accident.
The driver received medical care and could not initially be questioned. Apart from the shock, she escaped without any injuries. Some of the injured were taken to the hospital by rescue helicopter. (sda/apa)
