The wedding celebrations of pop star Taylor Swift and football professional Travis Kelce have begun, according to US media reports. The couple reportedly celebrated a dinner at New York’s Madison Square Garden on the eve of the big party scheduled for tonight. This was reported by several US media outlets, citing circles close to the couple and the organizational and security logistics surrounding the major event. Swift and Kelce themselves have not yet commented on this.

The streets around the pink-lit Madison Square Garden in Manhattan were cordoned off on Thursday evening (local time), and a large contingent of police officers were deployed. Photographers, journalists and onlookers gathered at the barriers. Numerous large cars with darkened windows drove up to the arena, where a large white tent was set up at the entrance. Nevertheless, observers managed to spot some stars – such as actress Lena Dunham or musician Jack Antonoff.

New York in a heat wave – with a jam-packed weekend
This weekend there are already numerous major events in New York with numerous events around the 4th of July – the 250th birthday of the USA – and the Football World Cup, and the metropolis is also in the middle of a heat wave.
It was previously announced that Swift and Kelce donated a total of 26 million US dollars (almost 23 million euros) to charitable causes in the USA this week – for example to aid organizations for the needy, animal welfare associations as well as music and educational programs.
Swift and Kelce have been engaged since August
Swift is one of the most successful stars in music history, Kelce is a football player for the Kansas City Chiefs and has already won the Super Bowl three times with the team. They have been together since 2023 and announced their engagement via Instagram last August. It would be the first marriage for both of them.
Swift’s loyal fans – the so-called Swifties – had been closely following the singer’s love life with all its ups and downs for a long time, also because, as a singer-songwriter and chronicler of her own life, she repeatedly discussed it in her songs.
