A mysterious sound system with Star Wars music caused perplexed looks in the hall at the AfD party conference and a search operation. During the election of the deputies for the Federal Executive Board, the “Imperial March” from Star Wars sounded alternately from the right and left.

Technicians went looking for the source and found at least one Bluetooth box behind a curtain under the hall roof. The background was initially unclear.

There is a state of emergency throughout Erfurt because of the party conference. Tens of thousands of people have gathered in the city to protest against the AfD. Motorways were also blocked in the morning. So far it is known that two journalists were injured. The majority of the demonstration has been peaceful so far.
AfD co-leaders Alice Weidel and Tino Chrupalla have been re-elected at the party conference. You will remain at the helm of the party for the next two years. Stefan Möller was appointed deputy boss. (vro/sda/dpa)
