A plane hit a person while taking off at the airport in the US city of Denver. There was then an engine fire, which the fire brigade quickly extinguished, as the Rocky Mountain city’s international airport announced on platform X. The 231 people on board the plane were taken to the terminal. There was initially no information about injuries.
According to the information, the person hit by the plane was a “pedestrian”. The incident late Friday evening (local time) was reported from the Frontier Airlines plane. The runway will remain closed while the investigation continues.
The US broadcaster ABC reported, citing a statement from the airline, that the passengers were safely evacuated via emergency slides. The destination of the aborted flight was therefore Los Angeles. “This event fills us with deep sadness,” Frontier Airlines said in a statement, from which CNN also quoted. ABC reported that the person recorded was dead. (sda/dpa)
