According to authorities, two people were killed and at least 14 others injured in new Ukrainian drone attacks on the centers of Russia’s largest online mail order company and on an oil warehouse.
This time, logistics centers in Krasnodar and Nevinnomyssk in the south of Russia were hit, said the founder of the Wildberries company, Tatjana Kim, on Telegram this morning. Unverified footage circulating on social networks purported to show the major fires.
Krasnodar Territory Governor Venjamin Kondratiev reported one death after the attack on the Wildberries center. He also said that one person was killed in an attack on an oil depot in Armavir. It was also said that nine people were injured in the attack on the Wildberries warehouse in Krasnodar. There had previously been talk of ten injuries, one injured person died in the hospital.
The governor of the Stavropol region, Vladimir Vladimirov, spoke of five people injured in the fire in Nevinnomyssk. The Kommersant newspaper reported, based on expert estimates, that around seven percent of Wildberries’ storage capacity was no longer usable. Kremlin chief Vladimir Putin appeared calm at a meeting and described the economic situation in the country as stable despite the Ukrainian attacks.
Zelensky praises attacks as a success
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyj again justified the attacks as part of the defensive fight against the Russian war of aggression. “Logistics centers that are involved in supplying the Russian army with components for drones, navigation equipment and equipment, as well as an oil storage facility,” he wrote on his Telegram channel were hit.
A tanker and four dry cargo ships were also hit in the Black Sea and the neighboring Sea of Azov. He thanks the armed forces “for these successes. We are rightly shifting the war back to Russia.”
In recent days, Ukraine also set fire to Wildberries logistics centers in the Moscow region and the Tambovsk region. A total of eight people died and dozens were injured. Russian investigators accused Ukraine of using terrorist attacks to target civilian objects. Russia also attacked logistics centers in Ukraine.
Kremlin accuses Ukraine of terrorism against civilian objects
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Tuesday – days after the deadly attacks – that the situation was not easy for the mail order company and its customers. Many small and medium-sized companies use the logistics centers as depots for their goods and pay rent to Wildberries in return; many of them now see their existence threatened.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyj had defended the attacks – as targets in Kiev’s defense against the Russian war of aggression. Zelensky claimed that Western-sanctioned goods were stored there and could be used for both civilian and military purposes. Russian commentators said that Ukraine was primarily trying to stir up resistance in society against Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin’s war.
Kremlin spokesman Peskov denied that Wildberries warehouses were being used to supply the Russian military. “The Kiev regime continues its strikes against civilian objects, this is the terrorist nature of the Kiev regime,” he said. Ukraine has been defending itself against Moscow’s war of aggression for more than four years – including with drone attacks on Russian targets. (nil/sda/dpa)
