After the tech entrepreneur Elon Musk legally defended himself against a ZDF report about him, the German broadcaster removed the criticized passage.
Elon Musk had requested a cease-and-desist declaration from a German law firm for the initial moderation of the program “ZDF today live” on June 12th with the title “Riots in Belfast – How Musk is fueling the protests,” the broadcaster said at the request of the German Press Agency (dpa).

“ZDF submitted this and removed the passage in question in the introduction.” There is now a notice in the relevant place in the media library that says: “The introduction was shortened for legal reasons”.
The show focuses on the violent riots in Belfast after a refugee from Sudan was charged with attempted murder for a knife attack earlier this week. The original introduction said that a racist mob was hunting migrants. “A British right-wing extremist and tech billionaire Elon Musk called for this.”
Musk’s lawyer Joachim Steinhöfel then warned the broadcaster and demanded that a cease-and-desist declaration be issued. As a result, the claim that Musk called for a “hunting of migrants by a racist mob” is obviously untrue. (hkl/sda/dpa)
