According to the central command CENTCOM, the US armed forces have begun further attacks against Iran. The aim of the operation is to weaken Iran’s ability to threaten freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.

In a statement on X, CENTCOM said the attacks were carried out at the direction of the commander in chief. The US blamed Iran for “unjustified aggression” against merchant ships and civilian crews passing through key international waters.
The day before, Centcom said it had attacked over 80 targets in Iran, citing attacks on merchant ships.
US President Donald Trump had previously announced the new attacks. The US military has “hit Iran hard” and “we will most likely hit them hard again tonight,” he said. He still believes that the conflict will be resolved soon. (val)
