What can be seen in the video recordings
The almost six-minute video includes footage from various days: First, you can see a man walking down a hallway in the hotel on Friday evening (local time) last week, where the gala dinner with the capital’s press took place the following evening. He can also be seen looking around the hotel’s fitness room. Pirro says he scouted out the hotel the day before the incident.
The footage from Saturday evening shows the attacker running armed through a security gate in the hotel. Several security officers then pull out their weapons and point them in the direction of the running perpetrator.
At the end of the recording, the scene is shown again at a reduced playback speed. With this shot you can see that the attacker points his weapon immediately after passing through the security gate to the right, where security officers are standing. A police officer can also be seen pointing his weapon at the attacker and appearing to fire shots in his direction.
What was known so far
Several shots were fired in the incident last weekend. However, it was initially unclear how many shots were fired and by whom. A security guard was hit by at least one bullet, but was not seriously injured because of his protective vest. According to police, the attacker himself was not shot. (sda/dpa)
