In 2024, the long-time Fox presenter supported Donald Trump in the US election campaign, and a lot of water has flowed down the Rhine since then. Carlson has repeatedly attacked the US president in recent months, especially since the beginning of the Iran war. He portrayed himself as a vehement critic and in the process he was also Accused of anti-Semitism. After the war started, he even apologized to his audience, that he supported Trump and misled people.

Nevertheless, Tucker continues to enjoy great popularity in the USA. Since being fired from Fox in 2023, he has built a large fan base with his podcast. His word still has weight – at least among parts of the population.
The Republicans and Trump probably don’t like the words that Carlson said in the podcast “Can’t Be Censored”which was published on June 18th. In it he says, among other things:
“I no longer support the Republican Party.”
Rhetorically, he further asks how American voters could “support a political party that is not loyal to the United States” and “puts the interests of a foreign country above those of its own citizens.”

Carlson also repeats his thesis that the US only started the Iran war because of pressure from Israel: “To know that is to know that the US government has betrayed the United States. There’s just no other way to interpret it.”
So it would be impossible for him to elect “people like that.” “I’ve voted Republican my whole life, I worked at Fox News. I have been a consistent advocate for the Republican Party for 35 years, but this cannot be defended because it is immoral.”
However, Carlson also emphasizes that he is not becoming a Democrat now. «I will not support the Democratic Party. I don’t know what I’m going to do,” he says and adds:
«I’m out. And when I’m out, then many others will be too.”
