Dispute over billion-dollar project
The background to the images is an ongoing conflict over the financing of the project. According to media reports, the White House is seeking $1 billion in additional security funding. Plans include a hidden drone base, rocket launchers, bulletproof glass and a reinforced bunker.
According to reports, the actual ballroom will be financed by private donations. Large technology companies are also said to be among the donors. However, congressional approval would be required for the additional security measures.
