One person was killed and several others were injured when a truck collided with a local train in Poland. The accident occurred at an unguarded railway crossing in Garbatka, about 50 kilometers north of Poznan in the west of the country, the PAP news agency reported.
βThe truck did not brake before the level crossing and drove into the side of the approaching train,β wrote Infrastructure Minister Dariusz Klimczak on X. A spokesman for the local fire department said the impact caused the truck to catch fire. The driver of the truck was killed.
Several carriages of the train derailed, causing 18 passengers to suffer minor injuries. The route from Poznan to Pila was initially closed. (sda/dpa)
