In the Ukraine war, Finland’s President Alexander Stubb advises direct talks with Russia. «It is time to start talks with Russia. “I don’t know when that will happen,” he told the Italian newspaper “Corriere della Sera” in an interview.

According to Stubb, the format is still open
If American policy towards Russia and Ukraine is not in Europe’s interests – as it seems to him – then we have to get involved directly, said Stubb. “We have spoken to the European heads of state and government about who will establish contact, we don’t know yet.”
The most important thing is coordination between everyone, especially between Germany, France, Italy, Great Britain, Poland and the Nordic and Baltic states with a border with Russia, Stubb explained. “We will see whether it will be a special representative or a group of heads of state and government.”
Three scenarios
There are three possible scenarios in the Ukraine war, said Stubb. The war continues, there is a ceasefire and then a peace agreement, or one of the two parties collapses, probably Russia. “I believe that the possibility of peace is not on the table, at least for this year.” (dab/sda/dpa)
