The prefecture in Bordeaux ordered the evacuation of campsites and holiday resorts in Lacanau and Lacanau Océan this morning. Holidaymakers should take all luggage with them and strictly follow the orders of the law enforcement officers. It’s about 4,000 people. It was said that the town of Lacanau and its residents were not initially affected by the evacuation.

As the authorities emphasized, this is a precautionary evacuation in view of further weather developments. With another heat wave, an increase in temperatures and a decrease in humidity are expected.
As the fire department explained this morning, heat and wind are making it difficult to fight the flames, which have not spread any further since the weekend. However, thousands of emergency services are still busy fighting fires. (dab/sda/dpa)
