While a heat wave is sweeping through large parts of Central and Western Europe, Greece is showing off its friendliest summer side: warm but pleasant temperatures between 18 and 32 degrees Celsius and fresh sea breezes characterize the coming days.

On numerous islands, the thermometers should not exceed 30 degrees, as the weather office announced.
Moderate warmth and sea breezes instead of a heat wave
“I’m happy not to be in my country today,” said a British tourist with a laugh on Greek television – and probably spoke to the hearts of many holidaymakers. In Great Britain this week temperatures of up to 35 degrees were significantly higher than in Greece.
Highs of up to 29 degrees are expected on the well-known holiday islands of Mykonos and Santorini in the coming days. At night it cools down pleasantly to around 18 degrees, which ensures restful sleep, as meteorologists reported on Greek radio.
Even in Athens, where heat waves often occur in summer, temperatures remain at a moderate 30 degrees during the day. (dab/sda/dpa)
