The French judiciary suspects a 15-year-old of being behind a large-scale hacker attack on the nationwide platform for ID cards and vehicle registrations.
Investigators suspect that the teenager is the hacker who offered 12 to 18 million records from the ANTS site for sale. The teenager was arrested, the Paris public prosecutor’s office announced.
On the ANTS site, users can, among other things, submit applications and make appointments. During the attack in the middle of the month, data such as user name, name, email address and date of birth, and in some cases also address and telephone number, were stolen. According to the Interior Ministry, biometric data and attached documents were not accessed. According to the ministry, 11.7 million accounts were affected. (sda/dpa)
