According to the information, the two women, a 32-year-old Swiss woman and a 48-year-old German woman, were traveling with 13 other skydivers. The 32-year-old is said to have collided with the 48-year-old while jumping in a right-hand bend, who was approaching from behind “at high speed”.
Swimmers rescue injured diver
The 32-year-old lost consciousness in the collision. Since she could no longer open her parachute herself to land, the automatic parachute opening was triggered. While descending, she touched a high-voltage line and fell into the Old Rhine. Two swimmers brought the woman to shore, where she was handed over to emergency services. According to police, she sustained life-threatening injuries.
The 48-year-old briefly lost consciousness after the collision, the police said. She was able to deploy her parachute herself, but was no longer able to land safely. She also hit a high-voltage line. The woman hit the ground from a height of around ten meters and was taken to hospital with serious injuries. According to the police, there was no danger to life.
