A Swiss tourist has died after a seizure on the forecourt of the Castellana caves near Bari (I). The 49-year-old man was on holiday in Italy with his family and wanted to visit the caves, the Italian news agency Ansa reported on Friday.
The tourist died at 1 p.m. in front of the Castellana Caves in the province of Bari. The man reportedly wanted to take a tour of the caves with his family. When the group arrived on the forecourt, he complained of feeling unwell.
According to the agency report, the tour guide advised canceling the visit and calling an ambulance given the heat prevailing at the time. However, when the rescue workers arrived, there was no way to save the man.
The 49-year-old and his relatives explained before the emergency services arrived that he had experienced similar symptoms in the previous days, it is said. However, these continued to subside without him seeking medical treatment. (sda/ansa)
