The Russian city of Belgorod is repeatedly the target of Ukrainian drone and missile attacks because of its proximity to the border. Not only were buildings and military facilities destroyed, but apparently also the water supply. Now the governor of Belgorod is even preparing the city for problems with sewage supply.

Vyacheslav Gladkov thanked his Moscow colleague Andrei Vorobyov for a delivery of 250 mobile toilets that were delivered. “You are a great help,” Gladkow wrote on Telegram and shared a video of the arrival. It shows workers lifting blue plastic toilets from a truck and carrying them away.
Gladkow said you have to be prepared for different scenarios. “We hope that these do not happen, but it is better to be prepared.”

“Unfortunately the situation is what it is”
However, he admitted on Telegram that the city was suffering from the Ukrainian attacks. “When I returned from a business trip today, I listened to reports about repairs of damage caused by sustained attacks by the Ukrainian army on energy facilities,” he wrote on Wednesday. Even more damage was discovered in daylight. “Unfortunately the situation is what it is,” he said and promised rapid reconstruction.
Gladkov warns of attacks almost every day and reports on the consequences of the Ukrainian shelling. According to him, energy plants and civil buildings are hit. However, Belgorod is also of military importance because of its proximity to the Ukrainian border. There are Russian army depots here, both for equipment and fuel.
Fires at a thermal power plant
Ukrainian forces last attacked Russian energy infrastructure in the Belgorod and Bryansk oblasts on the night of February 15-16. This was reported by the head of the Ukrainian Center for Combating Disinformation, Lieutenant Andriy Kovalenko, on Telegram.
According to a report by the American Institute for War Studies (ISW), he published images of fires near the Belgorod thermal power plant. Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov confirmed that the attack by Ukrainian forces on the Belgorod region caused significant damage to energy facilities.
