Standstill on the rails, nothing works anymore: Deutsche Bahn traffic has been stopped nationwide due to a radio interference. A spokesman for Deutsche Bahn confirmed this in the evening at the request of the German Press Agency. Trains are at the stations, travelers are stuck: all trains are being held back for the time being.
Update: Cause of nationwide disruption identified
Deutsche Bahn has now identified the cause of the disruption, which is currently leading to a nationwide stop to train traffic. “Our colleagues are working intensively on a solution,” a railway spokesman told the dpa. There was initially no more precise information about the cause.
S-Bahn in Berlin and Stuttgart also affected
In some cities, S-Bahn trains operated by Deutsche Bahn were also affected. In Berlin, traffic on the entire S-Bahn network was suspended. The reason was a network-wide disruption in the communication system, the Berlin S-Bahn announced on its website. All lines are affected.
In Stuttgart it was said: “All S-Bahn trains in the entire S-Bahn network are currently being brought to a stop at the platforms. Check your connection in the travel information for alternative means of transport. We will let you know as soon as we have new information and can estimate how long the disruption will last.”
In Hamburg, however, elevated railway traffic was not affected. All subway lines are running, as a spokesman for the Hochbahn told the dpa.
Swiss traffic not affected
Swiss train traffic is currently not affected by the disruption, as SBB spokesman Moritz Weisskopf said when asked by the Keystone-SDA news agency. Only one train is currently running late. The SBB is in contact with Deutsche Bahn to further assess the situation. (ome/mke/sda)
