Meanwhile, Iran-backed Hezbollah has stepped up its attacks on northern Israel. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office announced new attacks on militia targets in Beirut’s southern suburbs this morning. Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz gave the army appropriate instructions, among other things, because of the attacks on Israeli locations.
The suburbs of the Lebanese capital known as Dahija are considered a Hezbollah stronghold, but are also densely populated. Since the ceasefire began in mid-April, the Israeli army has only rarely attacked there – according to Israeli media reports, at the request of the US government.
Another Israeli soldier killed
There are currently repeated air alerts in northern Israel due to rocket and drone fire from the neighboring country. Israel’s army also reported another soldier killed in southern Lebanon. According to Israeli media, the soldier was killed in a Hezbollah drone strike that night.
Despite the ceasefire, Israel and Hezbollah continue to attack each other daily. Israel’s army has expanded the ongoing offensive in southern Lebanon and is advancing further north.
