The German television presenters Joko and Klaas compete against their employer, the television station, in their format “Joko & Klaas versus ProSieben”. They have to complete tasks and challenges. If they do this successfully, they have free broadcast time at their disposal, during which the television station waves through whatever the two of them want to broadcast. If the two lose, they must unconditionally be available to ProSieben as moderators.
Klaas Heufer-Umlauf and Joko Winterscheidt won the last episode of the format. So they were allowed to play the show freely. This is actually 15 minutes of broadcast time, but this time they broadcast for over three hours.
They decided to show the everyday life of Ukrainian civilians during Russia’s war of aggression. They did this by sending cameras to Ukrainian civilians and asking them to record their everyday lives during the war.

Joko Winterscheidt and Klaas Heufer-Umlauf have been in front of the camera together since 2009. They mainly moderate entertainment formats. But they have often used the airtime they gained to draw attention to important issues. In 2020, she and her team produced a program on the topic of sexism and sexual violence against women. (nib)
