The police routinely check a man. Within a very short time it became clear: the man had been wanted for several weeks.

On Saturday around 3 p.m. at Aachen Central Station, the federal police caught a man who had eleven identities and had an arrest warrant against him. He also had three bank cards with him that were not made out to him. The federal police announced this. The control ended for him behind bars.
The officers became aware of the 46-year-old Syrian by chance, a federal police spokesman said when asked by t-online. “Trains from Belgium regularly arrive on the track. That’s why arrivals are checked more often at random,” said the spokesman.
During the check he was only able to present a Belgian driving license. “But he did not have any documents with him that could prove his right of residence in the EU,” the spokesman explained. During a subsequent search check, the system then displayed several hits.
The man was unable to identify himself several times
On the one hand, the 46-year-old was stored in the system with a total of eleven identities. “That means he didn’t have any identification documents with him during previous checks either. He then had the opportunity to provide his personal details himself,” said the spokesman. In some entries he sometimes entered different places of birth, but sometimes he also gave a different name or a different spelling.
At the same time, there was an arrest warrant against the man for violating the residence law, the spokesman explained. “This has existed since January.” It is unclear whether he even knew about it. “The man is not registered in Germany. It is therefore possible that the letter with the verdict on the fine of 1,200 euros or the 20-day prison sentence never reached him.
He was also wanted in three cases: money laundering, particularly serious arson and as a witness. The spokesman did not know whether he was wanted as a suspect or as a witness in this context. “All we know is that letters from authorities regarding these cases could not be delivered to him. “We don’t know what role he played in the crimes,” he said.
Multiple bank cards, different owners
When the man was then asked to pay the 1,200 euros to avoid prison, he pulled out three bank cards. “However, none of them were in his name,” said the spokesman. The man was therefore arrested. “He has to serve his sentence now,” he concluded.
The man’s bank cards were confiscated. He was also charged with embezzlement.
