According to President Donald Trump, the framework agreement between the USA and Iran could be signed earlier than planned – possibly as early as Thursday. “The agreement we reached with Iran on Sunday will be signed shortly – tomorrow or maybe the day after,” Trump said at the G7 summit in Évian, France. He did not provide any further details. It was previously planned that the framework agreement would be signed on Friday.
When asked by reporters why he didn’t stay in Europe for the signing, Trump said maybe he would. It was previously assumed that Vice President JD Vance would travel to Switzerland for the signing.
Previously it was said that the signing of the declaration of intent would take place today instead of on Friday. Two sources reported this to the US news agency on Wednesday Axios. The signing would then take place remotely.
The document would in this case be signed electronically. The parts of the agreement on the Strait of Hormuz would then come into force.
The meeting on the Bürgenstock should still take place as planned. (hkl)
