On Sunday, Peter Magyar was elected as the new Prime Minister of Hungary. He defeated the long-time head of state Viktor Orban at the ballot box.
The soon-to-be head of government of Hungary was asked at one of the first press conferences after his election how he wanted and would handle the relationship with Russia.
According to Magyar, Hungary is prepared to have a more pragmatic relationship with Russia under him than it has so far under Orban. The politician said that he wanted to carefully examine all contracts between Hungary and Russia and adapt them accordingly. If necessary, he would renegotiate or terminate. The newly elected Hungarian wants the country to become more independent of Russia when it comes to energy sources.
Magyar also finds clear words about talks with US President Donald Trump:

Peter Magyar clearly won the elections for Prime Minister of Hungary on Sunday. He replaces Viktor Orban, who has been in office for 16 years. Magyar and his Tisza party are seen as the counterpart to Orban’s previous government.
The new head of government wants to fill positions in parliament and improve Hungary’s relations with the EU. After 16 years, he announced that he would strive for a new political beginning in the country. Magyar will officially take office from May 5th. (nib)
