On the sidelines of the G7 summit in Evian, France, around twenty boats set out from Lausanne on Lake Geneva on Saturday afternoon to show solidarity with Gaza. Several dozen Palestinian flags flew next to the sails.
Little by little the boats were decorated with flags and banners. “Stop complicity, stop genocide” (Stop complicity, stop genocide), “Resist Fascism” and “No G7” could be read on them. Smoke petards in Palestinian colors were also ignited on some boats. At the same time, the demonstrators shouted: “Free, free Palestine”.
The aim of the campaign was “to make visible the anger over the complicity of states in the ongoing genocide in Palestine before Evian and the G7 summit,” the organizers wrote in a statement. They particularly denounced military aid to Israel.
The organizers said that around a hundred people from around fifteen countries were present, including several public figures from French-speaking Switzerland. (sda)
