Actress Daveigh Chase has died aged just 35. This reported TMZ. According to Roy Hernandez, Chase’s boyfriend, she had meningitis. This led to sepsis and ultimately organ failure. TMZ writes that Chase was admitted to a hospital in Los Angeles at the beginning of June.

Daveigh Chase gained notoriety at a young age. She will be particularly familiar to fans of horror films: the American played the role of the eerie ghost girl Samara Morgan in “The Ring”. For this she was awarded Best Villain at the 2003 MTV Movie Awards.

Children of the 1990s and 2000s, on the other hand, will probably know Daveigh Chase primarily for her voice: in 2002, she voiced Lilo Pelekai in the animated classic “Lilo & Stitch”. A year earlier she had already appeared in the Japanese animated film “Spirited Away”.

Chase was also regularly seen on TV as a teenager and young adult. From 2006 to 2011 she starred in the HBO series “Big Love,” in which she played the manipulative Rhonda Volmer. She ended her acting career in 2016 at the age of just 26. In the following years she came into conflict with the law several times, for example because of drug possession.
After her death, Daveigh Chase’s entourage has now started a GoFundMe fundraising campaign. It talks about the former star’s difficult childhood. Among other things, she is said to have been repeatedly bullied and to have suffered from a rift with her family. (dab)
