The FBI is doubling its reward for information about the disappearance of US presenter Savannah Guthrie’s mother. The federal police will pay up to 100,000 US dollars (around 84,000 euros) for information that leads to the finding of 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie or the arrest of people who are behind her disappearance. The FBI announced this on the X platform. The most recently suspended sum was $50,000.

There has been no trace of the pensioner for almost two weeks. Investigators assume a kidnapping and are looking for a male suspect. He should be 1.75 to 1.78 meters tall and of average stature. The new details result from an analysis of video footage that shows a masked person at the pensioner’s front door in Tucson, Arizona – on the day she disappeared. According to the FBI, the man was carrying a black backpack.
In the past few days, after several blackmail letters, Savannah Guthrie and her two siblings had repeatedly addressed the largely unknown alleged kidnapper or kidnappers in video messages and also hinted at a possible ransom payment. (dab/sda/dpa)
