Air passenger rights
A debate with Commissioner Apostolos Tzitzikostas on the agreement reached with Council to update the EU air passenger rights regulation is first on the agenda from around 17.30, immediately following the opening. Parliament negotiators resisted a push to weaken the rights of air passengers when flights are cancelled or delayed, or they are denied boarding. The deal improves ticket price transparency, and the rights of disabled passengers, and allows parents to sit next to their children at no extra charge. The rules had not been updated since 2004. MEPs will vote on the agreement as a whole tomorrow at noon, followed by a press conference.

The focus is on five key areas: unemployment benefits, family benefits, long-term care benefits, access to social benefits for economically inactive mobile citizens, and posted workers and people working in two or more member states. MEPs will vote on the new rules tomorrow at noon, followed by a press conference.
