After new serious attacks by the USA and Israel against Iran, the situation in the region is further deteriorating. US President Donald Trump has openly threatened Tehran with “complete destruction”. At the same time, there are new attacks and military operations in several countries in the region.
Here are the key points:
Trump threatens Iran with “complete destruction”
US President Donald Trump has threatened Iran with drastic consequences. Iran will be “beaten to hell” and “hit very hard” this Saturday, Trump announced on his Truth Social platform.
“Due to Iran’s poor behavior, areas and groups of people not previously targeted are under serious scrutiny for complete destruction and certain death,” Trump wrote. The post on his platform followed statements by Iranian President Massoud Peseschkian, who this morning set conditions for an end to his own air strikes on neighboring countries.
Iran’s president sets conditions for an end to the attacks
Iranian President Massoud Peseschkian signaled his willingness to de-escalate – but only under conditions.
In a video message, he said that Iran would not fire missiles at neighboring countries as long as no attacks were launched against Iran from their territory. In doing so, he also indirectly made demands on the USA: military bases in the region should no longer be used for attacks.
New missile and drone attacks in the Gulf region
Shortly after the speech, several Gulf states again reported intercepted missiles and drones.
Iranian units said they had attacked US bases in Abu Dhabi and Kuwait with drones, according to state media. Among other things, communication systems and radar systems were hit.
Reports of severe damage in Iran
At the same time, Iranian state media reported massive attacks on targets in Iran. The following are said to have been affected, among other things:
- two hospitals in Chuzestander province
- Mehrabad domestic airport in Tehran
- several military installations in the country
The Israeli army said it attacked an underground ballistic missile storage facility and a Revolutionary Guard military university in Tehran. There is currently no independent confirmation of all damage.
Israel is also carrying out military action in Lebanon
In parallel with the escalation with Iran, Israel conducted an operation in Lebanon. According to the military, the aim was to find new clues about the fate of navigator Ron Arad, who was shot down in 1986.
According to Lebanese media, at least 26 people were killed in the fighting, including three Lebanese army soldiers.
Hundreds of thousands of people are on the run in Lebanon
The situation in Lebanon is also getting worse. Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz warned that the country would pay the “full price” if the Iranian-backed Hezbollah continues to threaten Israel.
According to Israeli military estimates, around 420,000 people have already fled within Lebanon. Around 100,000 people are still believed to be south of the Litani River.
