The rumor mill about Daniel Craig’s successor as James Bond has been simmering for years. At the beginning of the year, the British Daily Mail reported that the search could be over: 35-year-old actor Callum Turner is set to take on the role of the legendary secret agent. According to a source close to the “Fantastic Beasts” star, Turner has already spread the news among his circle of friends.
At a press conference, however, the Briton responded evasively to a corresponding query. “I won’t comment on that,” Turner replied to the dpa news agency’s question. His fellow actor Tracy Letts then chimed in and joked that he himself would be the new Bond actor.
Denis Villeneuve is set to direct the next Bond film, which is currently only known under the working title “Bond 26”. The Canadian filmmaker, known for “Dune” and “Blade Runner 2049”, is considered a big fan of Turner, according to the “Daily Mail”.
