The new British Prime Minister Andy Burnham is continuing his agenda to reduce the cost of living. Pubs, clubs and live music venues in England are set to benefit from a 20 per cent reduction in business rates from next April, the government has announced.
Around 32,000 companies in most of the UK are expected to benefit from the measure – this was reported by the British news agency PA, citing government estimates. An average pub will be able to save around 1,100 pounds per year (around 1,200 francs) per year. The costs for the tax authorities amount to around 100 million pounds per year.
Burnham: Want to give hope back to the entire country
Pubs and shopping areas are “the beating heart of our communities,” Burnham said in a statement. He promised to protect her and “that’s what I’m going to do.” He added: “What we are announcing today is just the beginning in the effort to restore hope to the entire country.”
