The heads of state of Russia and Ukraine said they congratulated President Donald Trump in personal phone calls on the USA’s 250th Independence Day and emphasized their good relations with the US government.
“We had a very good telephone conversation,” Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyj wrote afterwards on Platform The Kremlin said that Trump had spoken to Russian President Vladimir Putin about constructive cooperation between the two great powers.
I have congratulated President Trump @POTUS and all Americans on Independence Day. We’ve had a very good phone call.
We are grateful to the United States for all the assistance we have received – from Javelins and Patriots to political support – and we deeply value that… pic.twitter.com/FKAPdpvnSN

Hours later, the US government still had no comment on the two phone calls, unlike what is usually the case after such discussions.
Zelensky said he had spoken to Trump about both the defensive fight against Russia’s military and diplomatic efforts to end the bloodshed. There are “realistic prospects for an end to the war, and America’s resolve is crucial.” Discussions about this would continue during the upcoming NATO summit on Tuesday and Wednesday in Turkey.
According to the state news agency Tass, Putin’s foreign policy advisor Yuri Ushakov reported that the two presidents discussed political, military and economic issues in a “business-like and fairly constructive manner.”
In addition to the Ukraine war, it was also about the US conflict with Iran. Trump once again offered to act as a mediator between Russia and Ukraine in order to bring an end to the fighting and a lasting peace solution as quickly as possible. Putin also renewed his invitation to the Republican to visit Russia. (sda/dpa)
