Shortly after midnight local time, several explosions shook the city of three million people. The smell of burning was noticeable in the center of Kiev, as a reporter on site reported. Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported on Telegram about several fires in two parts of the city. The air alarm was only triggered after a delay after the first explosions.
Talks between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and US President Donald Trump are expected on Wednesday on the sidelines of the NATO summit in Ankara.
Above all, Zelenskyj wants to achieve larger deliveries of urgently needed Patriot anti-aircraft missiles to defend against Russian ballistic missiles. Within a week, Kiev was attacked by the Russian military with such missiles for the third time. (sda/dpa)
