The Japanese Ministry of Defense in Tokyo also reported the launch of several suspected ballistic missiles by North Korea. These were fired near the east coast of the country.
The country had only fired a ballistic missile on April 8 after launching several short-range missiles. According to several UN Security Council resolutions, North Korea is fundamentally prohibited from firing ballistic missiles. South Korea’s presidential office condemned the missile launch and called for an immediate end to all provocations. (sda/dpa)
