Contrary to what was initially thought, the suspect was a woman and not a man, said Morgan Raymon from the Monaco public prosecutor’s office. The woman is in her thirties and her last known place of residence is in Germany. The suspect, who disguised herself as a man, is wanted with an international arrest warrant.

“According to initial findings and investigations by the Monegasque law enforcement authorities, there were connections to Hesse,” said the State Criminal Police Office (LKA) of the German state of Hesse. On Thursday, an apartment rented by the 39-year-old Ukrainian in the Main-Taunus district was searched as part of a request for legal assistance.
“Furthermore, a vehicle she was using was searched and seized.” The woman is suspected of being involved in the crime, the LKA wrote. Evidence was handed over to the Monegasque authorities. “The woman we are looking for is currently on the run.”
Three seriously injured in explosion
On Monday evening there was a violent explosion at the entrance to a residential building in Monaco. Three people were seriously injured. According to reports, a person had previously left a package there and later fled. Attempted homicide and an explosives offense are being investigated.
Investigators believe the suspect did not act alone. In the meantime they arrested two men. But because they were probably not actively involved in the crime, they were released again. According to the newspaper “Le Parisien”, the suspects’ place of residence is Frankfurt.
The public prosecutor’s office did not provide any information about the identity of the victims. According to media reports in Monaco, France and Ukraine, it is said to be a Ukrainian oligarch, his wife and a son of the couple. (dab/sda/dpa)
