US President Donald Trump has appointed one of his supporters as the new acting intelligence coordinator. The head of the federal housing finance authority, Bill Pulte, will also temporarily supervise the US secret services, as Trump announced on the Truth Social platform. Critics are offended by his choice. They accuse the president of his supporter having no experience in this area. An exact date for taking office has not yet been set.

The US intelligence coordinator is at the top of the US intelligence community and serves as the president’s chief adviser on intelligence matters.
The position is vacant because Tulsi Gabbard recently announced her resignation effective June 30. She cited family reasons as the reason. Her husband is suffering from a rare form of bone cancer. However, the media had previously reported that opinions about the Iran war differed between her and Trump. It remained unclear whether Pulte would remain intelligence director permanently.
Criticism of desks
Pulte comes from a background in which allegations arose against a board member of the US Federal Reserve over alleged mortgage irregularities. Trump wanted to get board member Lisa Cook fired. She resisted and remained in office for the time being. The Supreme Court is currently considering the case.
Critics accuse Trump of wanting to force opponents he dislikes out of office. They also complain that Pulte is a kind of recipient of Trump’s orders and implements what he demands without being contradicted.
