The body of a 12-year-old boy has been found in the Breton city of Rennes. The boy was lying on the banks of the Vilaine River with a wet towel tightly wrapped around his neck, reports the AFP news agency. The police have launched a murder investigation.
“The circumstances that led to the death still need to be investigated,” the public prosecutor’s office said on Sunday. The “involvement of third parties is one of the hypotheses”.
A fisherman called the police after hearing a child’s screams, AFP continues. On Sunday evening, numerous police officers were on duty near a residential complex to investigate the case.
A resident told the news agency she was shocked. “This is a quiet area, not far from the center,” said the woman. “I have never been bothered.” (hkl)
