France’s justice minister Gérald Darmanin is in Algeria to discuss improving cooperation and the fate of a detained French journalist. The visit is a sign of warming ties between the two countries, after a diplomatic spat triggered among other things by Paris’s official backing Moroccan sovereignty over the disputed Western Sahara region. For Darmanin, the goal is also to improve judicial cooperation between the two countries.
