Donald Trump’s moves to redraw electoral district boundaries to secure additional seats for Republicans in November’s midterm elections have met with fierce resistance.
A bitter dispute has broken out, particularly in Louisiana. The state Senate passed a plan that would dissolve a predominantly black constituency.
However, the plan still needs to be passed by the Louisiana House of Representatives.
New Orleans resident Marshan Camese accused Republicans of depriving Black voters of their political voice during a recent Louisiana Senate hearing. In his emotional speech, he also sharply criticized the government under President Trump.
He wore a hat that read: “Trump was wrong about everything.” And was mocked by a senator for it.
The video of his speech quickly spread online and has been viewed more than twelve million times.
Among other things, Camese attacked US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth. He regularly invites Pastor Doug Wilson to the Pentagon to hold services there. Wilson is the same preacher who claimed that slave owners were on “solid spiritual ground.”
