Storm Therese raged on the Canary Islands over the weekend. There were numerous floods, rock falls and power outages.

Heavy rain and gusts of wind raged on various Canary Islands. On the island of El Hierro, a 79-year-old man died after being washed into the sea.
Roads were blocked by rock falls and various reservoirs threatened to overflow. In Tenerife, access to Teide remained closed after 10 to 20 centimeters of snow fell in the high areas around the volcano.
In Los Silos, also on Tenerife, a landslide took down a canal and left around 100 residents temporarily without a water supply. Various flights were canceled or diverted.
According to the weather service AEMET, thunderstorms and rain as well as hail are still to be expected, although the situation should calm down in the coming days. (emm)
