On Friday, March 13, Israeli forces dropped leaflets over Beirut, the capital of Lebanon. The flyers were scattered in various neighborhoods.

As residents of the city shared on social media, two different flyers were distributed in the city. One of the flyers urges residents to contact Israeli intelligence if they have information about Hezbollah.
The flyer also states that Hezbollah should be disarmed.screenshot: X/intogrey
To reach out, people would simply need to scan one of the two QR codes and compose a message with the information they have. This would be transmitted to Israeli intelligence. That’s what she reports “New York Times”.
Hezbollah is a terrorist organization supported by the Iranian government.
The second leaflet presumably shows a picture of Lebanese fleeing the city in cars to the north of the country. Below the picture is the question “Where is your country going?” placed.
The leaflet is intended to be reminiscent of the front page of a newspaper.Image: screenshot: X/intogrey
The leaflet also writes that Lebanon is threatened with the same destruction as the Gaza Strip.
The Israeli military did not respond to the New York Times’ request and therefore did not comment on the leaflets. However, shortly after these were distributed across Beirut, warnings spread among residents not to scan the QR code on the first leaflet.
The codes are linked to the 504th unit of the Israeli military. These would be linked to psychological operations that include, among other things, people contacting you through QR codes. It is not known whether the codes lead to this unit and whether the Israeli secret service is behind it.
In recent days, Lebanon has come under increasing attacks as a result of the war in the Middle East. Among other things, the capital Beirut was also a target of the Israeli attacks. (nib)
