Things got pretty tough in the right-wing populist AfD faction in the German Bundestag this week. The deputy AfD federal chairman Kay Gottschalk accuses parliamentary group deputy Beatrix von Storch of being violent towards him.

According to participants in an internal meeting, the argument between the two began when Gottschalk criticized the group for having published a communication on the Iran war too late at the weekend. According to Gottschalk, the deputy group leader then came to him.
“She first held the cell phone in front of my nose and then slapped me twice on the forehead with the flat of her hand,” said Gottschalk when asked. “Bild” first reported on the incident.

“I was completely surprised and think this behavior is absolutely inappropriate,” commented Gottschalk. Von Storch, on the other hand, said that she did not hit her parliamentary group colleague, but “I tapped his forehead”.
