In Germany and Switzerland, investigators have uncovered a suspected shop for items with right-wing extremist motifs. Eleven buildings were searched, as police and public prosecutors in Göttingen, Germany, announced on Tuesday.
The investigation is therefore directed against a 43-year-old and five accomplices. An arrest warrant was issued against the main accused, which was suspended under certain conditions. Confirmation of the searches from the Federal Office of Police (fedpol) in Bern was initially pending.
According to information from Göttingen, the buildings searched were, in addition to Switzerland, in the German states of Lower Saxony, Thuringia, Baden-Württemberg, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and Saxony-Anhalt. In Thuringia, officials reportedly discovered a meeting point for the right-wing extremist scene.
According to the authorities, thousands of CDs and records were seized during the searches, as well as lanyards, clothing and stickers with swastikas, imperial eagles, SS skulls, Hitler figures as well as brass knuckles and non-over-the-counter explosive devices.
Among other things, the suspects are said to have sold right-wing extremist music. They are also said to have offered trendy items with unconstitutional, right-wing extremist symbols or motifs from terrorist or banned organizations.
These included articles with motifs from the banned groups “Blood & Honor” and “Combat 18”. There are also violations of the weapons law and the trade in banned doping substances and prescription drugs.
According to the information, the six suspects have been undercover since the beginning of the month. The main suspect was first noticed during an investigation by the Oldenburg police into a right-wing extremist music network. (hkl/sda/dpa)
