In the rape trial against Marius Borg Høiby, the second day of the trial began on Wednesday, according to the NTB news agency, with statements from an alleged victim.
The son of the Norwegian Crown Princess is said to have sexually touched the woman during a party at the residence of Norway’s Crown Prince couple – Skaugum Castle – and penetrated her with his finger while she was sleeping. The 29-year-old is therefore charged with rape under Norwegian law – in this and three other cases.
He is also said to have filmed the woman. According to the NTB, she had already testified on Tuesday that Høiby and she had first had sex for a very short time in a toilet. After that she couldn’t remember anything. The defendant is expected to respond to the allegations in the afternoon. Høiby’s defense attorney, Ellen Holager Andenæs, told the Norwegian newspaper “Verdens Gang” this morning: “It is his wish to explain himself.”
The eldest son of the Norwegian Crown Princess is charged with 38 counts, including four counts of rape under Norwegian law – one of which involved sexual intercourse. He is also said to have filmed the women.
Mette-Marit’s son denies rape allegations
The Norwegian denied the most serious allegations at the start of the trial. He had partially admitted some other crimes – including cases of domestic violence, property damage, drug abuse and traffic offenses.
Shortly before the trial, the police picked up Høiby again on Sunday: He is said to have threatened with a knife and violated a ban on contact. Mette-Marit’s son therefore has to be in custody for four weeks. “Of course that’s not a good thing in this case,” said defense attorney Andenæs.
According to Norwegian media, the 29-year-old was treated in hospital after the incident over the weekend. The Crown Prince’s family is said to have visited him there. Haakon (52) and Mette-Marit (52) are staying away from the trial and do not want to comment on it. (hkl/sda/dpa)
