The judges at the Oslo district court found the Norwegian with Pakistani roots guilty of aiding and abetting serious terrorist offenses. The 48-year-old was also convicted of attempting to plan further attacks in Norway together with the terrorist organization Islamic State.
On the night of June 25, 2022, the perpetrator, who was also sentenced to 30 years in custody in 2024, shot around in front of a gay bar in the center of Oslo after he had recently made a declaration of loyalty to the so-called Islamic State. Two men were killed and several other people were injured, some seriously. The secret service classified the attack as an Islamist terrorist attack shortly before a planned and then canceled Pride parade in Oslo.
“A man who hates Norwegian values”
The public prosecutor’s office accuses the now convicted 48-year-old of being involved in the planning of the attack by manipulating the shooter, a vulnerable and easily influenced man, and giving him advice, reports the NTB news agency. “He is a man who hates Norwegian values,” said prosecutor Aud Kinsarvik Gravås in her plea in November.
