The Ukrainian military has once again attacked the Russian online retailer Wildberries. A large company warehouse in the Russian Penza region was set on fire by drone fire during the night, as the region’s governor, Oleg Melnichenko, announced, according to the state agency Tass. There was at least one injured person. Around 200 employees were evacuated.
Since this month, Ukraine has repeatedly attacked the logistics centers of the largest Russian mail order company. The symbolic and highly visible attacks on Wildberries cause great damage. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky accuses the company of trading in material that will be used for the war of aggression against his country that began in 2022. The Kremlin categorically rejects this.
One goal of the Ukrainian leadership also seems to be to stir up unrest among the middle classes in Russian cities, who like to shop online. As a result of the attacks and the resulting disruption of supply chains, the consequences of the war are now being felt more acutely than before.
On Wednesday night, Ukraine attacked a large Wildberries logistics center and a refinery in the Russian city of Ryazan. (sda/dpa)
