The current heat wave continues to have Europe firmly in its grip. In the French city of Angers there was a real rush for air conditioning and fans on Wednesday. As early as 8:30 a.m., numerous customers rushed into a Carrefour branch to secure devices from the newly arrived delivery.
Shortly after 9 a.m., the supermarket announced via an Instagram story that all air conditioning systems were already sold out.
Demand for refrigerators has also increased significantly in Switzerland. According to Digitec Galaxus, around 49 percent more air conditioning and air conditioning units were sold between the beginning of the year and the end of June than in the same period last year.
