An onset of winter in the Netherlands has led to the cancellation of hundreds of flights at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol. In addition, hundreds of other flights were delayed, an airport spokeswoman told the ANP news agency.

The airport announced that delays and flight cancellations are occurring due to a combination of wintry weather, wind direction and the need to de-ice aircraft. Dutch airline KLM cited snowfall and strong winds as the reason for the disruptions. (sda/dpa)
